Hooray for science!I use this space to write about life as a postgrad, research I'm working on (though I can't really publicise the details of anything unpublished) and how to survive in the wonderful world of academia. More than anything else, I write about news, events and interesting things in astronomy and chemistry, as well as the curious fusions that happen where they intersect; astrochemistry and astrobiology. Occasionally I spice things up with some gastronomy or other things too.

At it's equator, the Planet Earth rotates around it's axis at 1,039.5 mph. It orbits the sun at a speed of 66,729 mph. The Sun is travelling around the galaxy at around 38,027 mph. The Milky Way galaxy is estimated to travel at around 1,300,000 mph relative to other galaxies.
Without us ever realising it, the Earth travels over 32 million miles every day.
