IYA2009 Public Lectures!

Happy Star
As part of the International Year of Astronomy, a number of my distinguished colleagues in the Astronomy Department here in Nottingham (including astropixie and myself) are giving a series of public lectures on a veritable cornucopia of astronomical topics -- all the way from exoplanets up to the Big Bang itself!

So if you happen to find yourself in Nottingham on any of those dates, please do feel free to come along. All lectures are aimed at the general public, and we all hope you'll have a good time! The next talk is on June the 18th, on the hunt for those ellusive exoplanets...

A full listing of lectures (including an introduction for the next one) is available online, or you can follow us on Facebook for the latest updates.

And yes, that is me giving a talk on Astrobiology on July 23rd.

Supernova Condensate is a blog about our place in the Universe; astronomy, chemistry and life in the great bubble of academia.

Invader Xan is a proto-astrochemist, trying to figure out how to be a scientist. He looks for molecules in space and studies the sciences of all things very big and very small.
He also finds it a bit weird talking about himself in the third person.

"When I am working on a problem I never think about beauty. I only think about how to solve the problem. But when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong."
